Privacy Policy

EcomExperts respects the privacy of the people who visit ecomexperts.io, contact us or use our services and tools. This Privacy Policy explains what information we process, why we process it, how it is handled and the choices available to you. It applies to the EcomExperts website, the EcomExperts Funnel Analyzer and other services that link to this policy (collectively, the “Services”).

In this policy, “EcomExperts,” “we,” “us” and “our” refer to EcomExperts. “Personal information” means information that identifies, relates to or can reasonably be linked with an individual.

1. The Funnel Analyzer at a glance

The Funnel Analyzer is a browser-based diagnostic that uses read-only access to Google Analytics 4 to create an aggregated ecommerce funnel report at the user’s request.

When you use the Funnel Analyzer:

  • Google handles the account sign-in and consent process. EcomExperts does not receive your Google password.
  • The tool requests only https://www.googleapis.com/auth/analytics.readonly.
  • The permission is read-only. The tool cannot edit or delete Google Analytics data or change your GA4 configuration.
  •  Requests for GA4 property information and report metrics are sent directly from your browser to Google’s Analytics APIs.
  •  Connected GA4 report data is displayed in your browser and is not transmitted to or stored in an EcomExperts server-side database.
  • EcomExperts does not sell connected GA4 data, share it with advertisers, use it for advertising or retargeting, add it to marketing profiles, or use it to train artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models.
  • You can disconnect at any time. Disconnecting clears the active page and asks Google to revoke the access token.

2. Information processed through the Funnel Analyzer

2.1 Google authorization information

After you grant permission, Google provides the Funnel Analyzer with a short-lived OAuth access token and its expiration information. The token allows the page to make the read-only requests you authorized.

The token is held only while the active page is open. It is not written to browser storage or sent to an EcomExperts backend. Refreshing or closing the page discards the browser’s local copy. The token also expires according to Google’s rules. Selecting Disconnect discards the local copy immediately and sends a revocation request to Google.

The Funnel Analyzer does not request or store a Google refresh token and cannot continue querying your GA4 property after the access token expires unless you authorize a new session.

2.2 GA4 account and property information

The tool reads the GA4 accounts and properties available to the connected Google account so you can choose the property to analyze. This may include:

  • GA4 account display names;
  • GA4 property display names and property IDs; and
  • the property you select and the reporting dates you choose.

2.3 Aggregated GA4 report data

For the selected property and dates, the tool requests aggregated active-user funnel counts needed to calculate movement between:

  • landing and product view;
  • product view and add to cart;
  • add to cart and begin checkout; and
  • begin checkout and purchase.

Where configured and available, the report also uses aggregated categories for device, acquisition channel, landing-page type, new or returning user, and country. The tool calculates completion rates, differences from fixed EcomExperts benchmarks and the lowest-performing funnel stage from these aggregate results.

The Funnel Analyzer is not designed to request event-level user records, Google passwords, individual customer names or email addresses, payment-card information, Shopify customer records, Shopify order records or access to a Shopify admin account.

2.4 Information you choose to share

The report remains in your browser unless you choose to share it. If you voluntarily send us a screenshot, describe your results, or discuss the report during a consultation, we process only the information you decide to provide. Sharing report information with us does not give EcomExperts continuing access to your GA4 property.

Selecting Book a Call opens a separate scheduling service. Funnel results and the Google access token are not included in that link or automatically transferred to the scheduling provider.

3. Other information we process through the website

3.1 Information you provide

We may process information you voluntarily submit through a contact form, meeting request, email, survey, newsletter form or other interaction, including your name, business email address, company, website URL, telephone number, project details, message content and communication preferences.

3.2 Technical and usage information

Our website is hosted on Shopify. Like most hosted websites, Shopify, our content-delivery providers and security providers may process limited technical information needed to deliver, secure and troubleshoot the Services. This may include IP address, browser and device type, operating system, requested page, timestamps, referring page, network information, security signals and cookie or device identifiers.

General pages of the EcomExperts website may use analytics, functional or marketing technologies as described in our cookie controls. These technologies are separate from the Funnel Analyzer’s connection to a merchant’s GA4 property. Connected GA4 data and OAuth tokens are not sent to EcomExperts website analytics, advertising platforms or marketing systems.

3.3 Cookies and similar technologies

We and our service providers may use cookies or similar technologies where necessary to operate and secure the website, remember preferences, understand general website performance or support marketing where permitted by law. You can control non-essential cookies through any cookie controls we make available and through your browser settings.

The Funnel Analyzer does not use cookies or browser storage to retain the Google access token or connected report data. Google may use its own cookies during account selection, sign-in and authorization in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy.

4. How we use information

We may use personal information to:

  • provide, operate and secure the Services;
  • generate the Funnel Analyzer report requested by the user;
  • maintain the active browser session and process a disconnect request;
  • respond to inquiries and meeting requests;
  • provide proposals, contracted services and customer support;
  • send requested communications and, where permitted, relevant marketing communications;
  • maintain, troubleshoot and improve website performance and security;
  • prevent fraud, abuse and security incidents;
  • comply with law, protect legal rights and enforce agreements; and
  • create statistics that are aggregated or de-identified and do not identify an individual.

We use information received through Google APIs only to provide the user-facing Funnel Analyzer functionality described in this policy.

5. Google API Services User Data

EcomExperts’ use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

In particular, Google user data accessed by the Funnel Analyzer is used only to provide the report requested by the user. We do not:

  • sell or rent Google user data;
  • transfer Google user data to data brokers, advertising platforms or information resellers;
  • use Google user data for advertising, retargeting or personalized marketing;
  • use Google user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes;
  • use Google user data to train generalized artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models; or
  • permit EcomExperts personnel or contractors to review connected GA4 data through the tool.

We will disclose Google user data only if the user deliberately shares it with us, if disclosure is necessary to address a security incident, or if disclosure is required by applicable law. Because the current Funnel Analyzer architecture sends GA4 API responses directly to the user’s browser, EcomExperts does not ordinarily possess the connected report data to disclose.

6. Legal bases for processing

Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on one or more of the following:

  • Consent: when you authorize Google access, choose optional cookies or ask to receive marketing.
  • Performance of a contract or steps requested by you: when we provide the tool, respond to a request, schedule a meeting or deliver services.
  • Legitimate interests: when we secure, maintain and improve our Services, communicate with business contacts and protect our rights, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Legal obligations: when processing is necessary to comply with applicable law or valid legal process.

You may withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred before withdrawal.

7. When information is disclosed

We may disclose personal information to service providers that help us host, secure and operate the website, manage communications, schedule meetings and deliver requested services. These providers may include:

  • Google, for account authorization and Google Analytics API access;
  • Shopify, which hosts and delivers the website;
  • HubSpot, if you choose to use the external meeting-booking link; and
  • infrastructure, security, communication and professional-service providers that process information under appropriate contractual or legal obligations.

We may also disclose information where reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, protect rights or safety, investigate fraud or security incidents, or complete a corporate transaction subject to appropriate safeguards.

Third-party services process information under their own policies, including the Google Privacy Policy, Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy and HubSpot Privacy Policy.

We do not automatically disclose Funnel Analyzer report data or Google access tokens to Shopify, HubSpot, advertisers or other EcomExperts business systems.

8. Retention and deletion

Funnel Analyzer information

OAuth token: held only in the active page’s memory until it expires, you disconnect, refresh the page or close it. Disconnecting also requests revocation through Google.

GA4 report data: processed and displayed in the browser. It is not retained in an EcomExperts server-side database.

Google account consent: managed by Google. You can review or revoke access from your Google Account’s third-party connections settings.

Other website and business information

Information you submit to EcomExperts is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose collected, including responding to requests, providing services, maintaining business and tax records, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements, meeting security needs and complying with law. Retention periods vary by the type of record and legal requirements.

9. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and organizational measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, loss, misuse or disclosure. Connections to the website and Google APIs use HTTPS encryption in transit. The Funnel Analyzer uses Google’s official browser-based authorization library and requests read-only access.

The access token is scoped to the authorized permission and held only in the active page’s memory rather than being saved in browser storage or an EcomExperts database. No method of transmission or electronic processing is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your choices and privacy rights

You can use the EcomExperts website without connecting a Google account. The Funnel Analyzer cannot generate a live report without authorized access to a GA4 property.

You may:

  • decline the Google authorization request;
  • select Disconnect to discard the local token and request token revocation;
  • revoke EcomExperts access through your Google Account;
  • refresh or close the page to discard the browser’s local copy of the token;
  • control cookies using available consent controls or browser settings;
  • unsubscribe using the link in a marketing email; and
  • request access to, correction of or deletion of personal information held by EcomExperts, subject to applicable law and exceptions.

Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to data portability, restriction of processing, objection to certain processing, withdrawal of consent, appeal of a decision or complaint to a privacy regulator. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

Because connected GA4 report data is not stored in an EcomExperts backend, EcomExperts ordinarily has no copy of that report data to access, correct or delete. GA4 source data remains under the control of the relevant Google Analytics account and property administrators.

11. International processing

EcomExperts and its service providers may process information in countries other than the one in which you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers. Privacy and data-protection laws may differ between jurisdictions.

12. Children’s privacy

The Services are intended for businesses and adults and are not directed to children under 13 or the minimum age required by applicable law. We do not knowingly request Google Analytics access from children.

13. Third-party links

The website may link to third-party websites and services. EcomExperts does not control their privacy or security practices. Review the relevant third-party policy before providing information.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the Services, legal requirements or our data practices. We will post the revised policy at this URL and update the date above. If we materially change how the Funnel Analyzer uses Google user data, we will provide any additional notice or consent required before applying the new use.
